Employed in a large organisation maintaining front line Tornado aircraft. (it was here I became heavily involved with computing, media delivery and data analysis)

Seconded to Quality Assurance Department to assist reorganisation at time of national ISO 9001 and Total Quality standards release. (Gained membership of the Institute of Quality Assurance and qualified as Auditor/Lead Auditor )

Worked within an Failure Detection Unit to examine jet engine wear debris to estimate remaining engine life or point of failure . (First persons within the RAF to trial the use of X-ray_fluorescence technology )

Deep strip and routine maintenance of Rolls Royce RB199 Tornado aircraft engines . (precision measurement and engineering required here )

Lived and worked on front line Harrier ‘jump-jet’ aircraft in the former West Germany. (got promoted to corporal whilst out there; although don’t quite know how; we used to work very hard, and, play very hard too)

Worked maintenance on large transport aircraft turboprop engines. (kind of like routine MOT’s; take them all apart, replace worn out parts, put them all back together again and test them)

Further training to become an aircraft propulsion technician / engineer. (9 months of workshop ‘hacking & bashing, hard sums, writing & exams, theory of flight, engineering practices, documentation and health & safety)
